What is Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB)?
HIB is any gesture, written, verbal or physical act, or any electronic information, whether it be a single incident or a series of incidences, that is reasonably perceived as being motivated by any actual or perceived characteristic such as race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, or a mental, physical, or sensory disability, or by any other distinguishing characteristics that take place on:1. School property2. Any school sponsored function3. School bus4. Off school grounds (18A:37-15.3)
HIB can be considered any act that substantially disrupts or interfers
with the orderly operation of the schools or the rights of others.
Any student wishing to report an incident of Harassment, Intimidation, or Bullying (HIB) may print and complete the HIB Referral Form.
